However, they forget those small bodies of water, such as bathtubs, ditches, fountains, fish ponds. Even watering cans can put their child at risk. Make sure that you empty containers of water after you finish using them. Your child is easily drawn to things and places like this.  Children require constant supervision.

An adult should be watching any child swimming. Even if your child is in a very shallow toddler’s pool, you or any adult should be persistently watching. It would be even better if the adult who is supervising the child knows CPR. Experts recommend that the adult is within arm’s length to provide “touch supervision” to toddlers in or around water. It is also important to remember to put away any inflatable pool after a swim session.

Enforce strict rules for your child’s safety. Make sure that you tell your child about the possible dangers whenever near water. There should always be no pushing and running around near the pool. Additionally, you should always require your child to use a life jacket. Do not allow the use of inflatable mattresses or toys because they can suddenly deflate. If the water is too deep, it can spell trouble for your child. Consequently, he or she suddenly slips off of them while swimming.

The pool needs to have clear rules. It is important that parents know which ends are deep and shallow. Never let your child dive into the end that is shallow and do not allow him to swim in the deep end. Parents should always be around to supervise.

Remove the cover completely before swimming. If your pool has a cover, you should always remove it completely. You should also never let kids walk on the cover. It may have accumulated water, which is also dangerous for the little ones. It is also possible that children could fall through if the cover. In turn, this will trap and child underneath.
